Question about buying Morgan silver dollars?
Hi, my son collects Morgan dollars and has been attempting to assemble a complete set for a few years now. I want to purchase a coin for him for Christmas and have a couple questions. He is currently buying the ones minted in Carson City. He usually buys high grade coins, or the highest he can find for the price he can afford. I know he has bought several and sent them to have them graded and slabbed. He needs a 1889 CC, and I would like to buy him one. I understand this is a rare coin and can demand a hefty price in nice condition. I have seen several on ebay that are going between 1 and 2K. I need some advice on how I should pursue this, so I can avoid getting ripped off. If I can find one on EBAY from someone with good feedback and offers a money back guarantee that would be nice. Any advice on price, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I know he usually only buys coins that have been graded by one of two of three companies he says are trustworthy.

okay, i know i’m young, and it’s unusual for young people to do this, but i have a coin collection. lol. and i might want to sell it, cuz i started collecting when i was about 8, and i thought it was cool to have all this strange money, but now i realize, that it’s just sitting there, when there are people out there in the world that i’m sure would enjoy it. it’s not a whole lot, but just tell me how much you think it’s worth right now, like on ebay or something. lol.
it consists of all the state quarters except alaska and hawaii(as of right now), a book that goes with those, one honduran dollar bill from 2000, one US 2 dollar bill from 1976, two one-dollar coin things(bronze with the picture of a woman and a baby made in 2000) a 1952 wheat penny, two 1976 quaters(the ones with the drummer in the army of 1776, the 200th aneversary of hte country i suppose)one 1923 murcury head dime(poor condition ) one 1972 canadian penny, one 1973 US nickel,one “ocean veiw ! O! the joy!” nickel from 2005, one lewis and clark nickel from 2004, one louisiana purchase nickel from 2004, one mexican dollar coin.
Random collection i know, but that’s because i’ve been just collecting anything un-usual in money form for a while. so how much is it all worth?
How do I sell my coin collection?
My father used to collect coins and has given me hundreds upon hundreds of old, mint, professionally graded coins. It is a huge variety and I’m sure it is worth thousands. I don’t want to use ebay because of the limit. What would you reccomend?

What is the best starter kit to purchase for a coin collector looking to organize their collection?
I am looking for a starter kit for a birthday present for my boyfriend. He has a small collection with various coins, but wants to organize and start REALLY collecting. Can anyone give me some advice as to which collection kit would be most suitable for a collector like him?
I have found a few on ebay and amazon but I am unsure if I should purchase them.

What is the best advice for my Morgan and peace silver dollars?

Long story short, for $10 I acquired
10 silver dollar coins, 4 Morgan Silver dollars and 6 peace dollars.
The Morgan dollars are (generally good condition, I would judge them to be between Fine and extremely fine more towards extremely fine). Philly mint I think for all.

I’ve always been interested in collecting coins when I was younger but never really had the capital to do so but it’s a different story now. I went to the local coin shop today and they offered me $26 per coin and I’m assuming I don’t have anything particularly interesting so they essentially offered me the melt value. Talking to them for a little bit about my hobby when I was younger and they suggested in regards to Morgan silver dollars that for “investing” the best strategy would be to acquire fewer higher quality rarer coins rather than your typical run of the mill common Morgans. I considered this advice and now I’m thinking I may act upon it or at least start a collection.
My goal is to have coins that won’t lose value over the long term. I’m assuming this implies that buying those rarer coins for their numistic value rather than it’s weight in silver is important. At the same time I still like the idea of having a collection and not simply owning the single most valuable coin I can afford.
With my goals in mind what would you suggest if I were looking into getting into Morgan silver dollar coins or perhaps another precious metal coin that won’t break the bank. One option I thought about was returning to the store to redeam my $260 and exchanging it for a something like a 1883 Carson City http://cgi.ebay.com/Boxed-Carson-Cit…item5ae00aab81 Would that be a wise move? Would doing this help achieve my goal?
Finding Deals on Coins?
I have just started collecting coins and am wondering where I can get deals. I know that I can obviously get some good deals, but what are the secrets to finding real treasures? Has anyone had any luck at garage/estate sales? Is it usually cheaper to get them from a coin dealer or on Ebay?
Also, when people on Ebay offer huge lots of coins with “rare finds” in them is there ever anything good in them or are they all picked over?
What’s the best way to invest in Silver?
I have been coin collecting for the past few months and the silver coins really stand out to me. So much that I want to invest in bullion or ingots. I bought a few Silver Eagles and small gram bars on ebay. Thats becomes expensive quick with shipping and mark up, silver would have to double to make it worth while. I was wondering if there was a place to buy 1 ounce bars from a shop or from mints without paying double the value.
