Question about buying Morgan silver dollars?

Hi, my son collects Morgan dollars and has been attempting to assemble a complete set for a few years now. I want to purchase a coin for him for Christmas and have a couple questions. He is currently buying the ones minted in Carson City. He usually buys high grade coins, or the highest he can find for the price he can afford. I know he has bought several and sent them to have them graded and slabbed. He needs a 1889 CC, and I would like to buy him one. I understand this is a rare coin and can demand a hefty price in nice condition. I have seen several on ebay that are going between 1 and 2K. I need some advice on how I should pursue this, so I can avoid getting ripped off. If I can find one on EBAY from someone with good feedback and offers a money back guarantee that would be nice. Any advice on price, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I know he usually only buys coins that have been graded by one of two of three companies he says are trustworthy.

COLLECTORS: Question about an old 20 dollar bill- (Twenty $$ Bill) -Help?

So, I got an old, old twenty dollar bil out of the cash machine today. I don’t way “old, old” as if 56 years is ancient, but I collected coins in the past, and I know how rare it is to get a bill *or* coin (other then a nickel) in change that is this old. Espeically because a bill has an average lifespan of 25 months before it is recycled and destroyed.

So, here are the details: Its a Series 1950. The serial is D-19707249-A and the D represents, I believe, the same D that has the city Federal Reserve Bank signified. It is D-Cleveland, Ohio.

The treasurer is John W. *somethingorother* and no, it is not the John W. Snow that graces our bills today.

It says “Will pay to the bearer on demand Twenty Dollars” at the bottom, but it is not a silver or gold certficate.

Anyone have a clue whether this is worth more then 20 bucks, and if so, why, and how much, and where, etc? Thanks. Any help would be appreciated. I’m really more curious then anything at getting this from an ATM…
It is a series 1950 exactly. with no “series” letter after it, such as “A” or “B” as many bills from the time had. It is not a silver or gold certificate… I personally thought they stopped those in the 30′s when America went off the gold standard but that could be wrong. Either way, its definitely not a silver or gold certificate. I already did some basic but well worded internet searches for the answer, and found nothing helpful. Thanks–
* First sentence should read *”I don’t *say*, not “*Way*”…. Sorry…..
Actually, the name I mentioned before, with the “John W.” at the begninning. is the secretary treasurer, the treasurer, on the left side, appears to read “George Reese Clarke” but I can’t be sure….

Is it about time to invest in gold and silver since the dollar is losing it’s value?

I’m wondering that because I’ve noticed the dollar is going down in value. Also, a lot of my family are starting to collect silver coins just in case the dollar can’t buy anything anymore.

Question about a RARE coin?

I have been collecting coins for a long time. I have one in particular to ask about: an 1845 USA Silver Dollar. Most coin books just list RARE under the condition I have mine in – Almost Uncirculated- AU 55-58, and whenever I take it to a show or dealer, they don’t want to pay the value I see in older guides, despite the much higher recent price of silver but they won’t say why. What can I do ?

Where do I obtain information about the value of coins I’ve collected?

I have several old U.S. coins and am wondering what they might be worth.

i needa good first sentence for a story about disney world DUE TOMMOROW i ll giv a extrra 5 coins!?

lik a quote anything exciting!

What to do about coin collection-grading?

I have a biz selling for others online and I have a customer that has over 1900 coins that date between the 1600-1800′s that he would like to sell. None have been graded. They are genuine, buried treasures.
Should he have them all graded? What would be the best way to go with a collection this size? He has had some dealers attempt to rip him off so he is not very trusting, that is why he came to me….I’d love to sell them but would like to get the most from them, of course!! Any answers??
